What’s My Curl Type?

Curly hair has become so popular over the last few years and all the curly girls are ready to embrace their natural hair! When it comes to taking care of your curls, knowing your curl pattern is key. Being able to identify your curl type will make it easier to care for your curls. Whether you have loose, classic, tight or kinky curls --we’ve got you covered.

LOOSE CURLS

Loose Curls

A soft "S” shaped waves. Think beach waves. Loose curls need plumping and volume so a lightweight foam such as the Ouidad Playcurl foam is great for curl amplification.

CLASSIC CURLS

Classic Curls

A defined "S” pattern. Think of spirals and ringlets. Classic curls need balanced hydration. The Ouidad Vitalcurl Soft Defining Mousse has botanical Omega 3-6-9 complex (Chia Seeds, Japanese Camellia, and Sunflower oils) which keeps curls smooth, moisturized and frizz free.

TIGHT CURLS

TIGHT CURLS

A small corkscrew or telephone cord pattern. Tight curls crave constant moisture and nourishment. The Ouidad Curl Quencher Conditioner is ideal for thirsty curls because it gives the curls the moisture they need without weighing them down. We recommend the Ouidad Ultra Nourishing Hydration Mask for monthly to bi-weekly moisture replenishment.

KINKY CURLS

KINKY CURLS

Kinky curls have a "Z” pattern, similar to webbing. They tend to be more fragile and require restorative care to keep curls happy and healthy. Kinky curls require monthly deep conditioning treatments either in the salon or at home. Preferably with heat because the hairs natural oils can not travel down the length of the curl. The ends demand nutrient based treatments to restore and revitalize the hair.
